The Manufacturers' Network Presents Bernard Hickey - a Special Post-Election Event and Leaders' Network- Christchurch
Government economic policies and manufacturers’ bottom line – what’s the connection, if any? A workshop with Bernard Hickey
We’ve had an election, but at this stage don’t know the ultimate outcome yet. Even once the new coalition arrangement has been confirmed, it will be a while until we find out what economic policies the new government intends to pursue. Will this matter for your manufacturing business? We know that government policies certainly can have an impact on manufacturers’ profitability – immigration, support for R&D, RMA, workplace safety, to mention but a few.
But what about economic policies?
In this workshop we’ll work out what impact the economic policies of past Governments, and the likely ones of the new Government, has had and will have on your bottom line. And who better to explain this than Bernard Hickey, a well-known economic analyst and commentator?
Instead of our normal Leaders' Network, Members of The Manufacturers' Network are invited to attend a special workshop with Bernard Hickey on Monday, 16 October in Christchurch. Bernard is well known to most New Zealanders as a leading financial journalist and editor with over 23 years experience including roles with Reuters, the Financial Times Group and Fairfax Media in Wellington, Canberra, Sydney, London and Singapore. He is a regular commentator on financial, economic and investment issues and contributor to Newsroom, regularly appearing on radio, television, Interest.co.nz and in the Herald on Sunday.
This is not going to be a dry, academic treatment of the matter. Bernard is an engaging and dynamic speaker with a real depth of knowledge of economic issues. He has both a broad and extensive knowledge of economic policy and politics, and is perfectly placed to provide valuable insight into the impact of government polices following coalition negotiations. We look forward to hosting him for our members. Networking, drinks and nibbles will follow the event.
Whilst there is usually no charge for our monthly Leaders' Network sessions, we have incurred extra costs associated with bringing Bernard to Christchurch to speak to our members and we are asking for a voluntary contribution of $45 per head. No payment is required on the night, however those willing to contribute can indicate so on the sign in register and will receive an invoice following the event.
